It's hard to believe that my baby just celebrated her 18 month birthday! Eeek! This is such a fun age, and I'm really enjoying this little girl who is now more of a 'little person' than a baby!
Here are her stats from the 18-month well-check:
Height: 33.5 inches
Weight: 28 lbs 5 oz
She's still going strong in the 90-95th percentile. And despite her strong opinions regarding food lately, she has somehow managed to gain 3 pounds in the last 3 months. You could have fooled me with the way she eats!
The last of her 16 teeth broke through this past month, so now we're set until the 2 year molars arrive. Having this 'break' makes mommy very happy!
On her 18-month birthday Emily got her first fever and ear infection. I've learned 2 things over the course of the last few days since she's been sick:
1. Runny noses that stick around for a few weeks can easily turn into ear infections, therefore my 'snot sucker' needs to be my best friend.
2. It is painful to see your child sick for the first time, and I would have much rather it have been me that was sick. The 'mother bear' syndrome definitely kicks in when your child is ill.
Sickness doesn't stop a little active tot, however. She loves playing with her Christmas manger set, helping mommy & daddy put up the Christmas tree, reading her new Christmas books, & playing outside. She recently learned how to fold her hands to pray and promptly showed the doctor this new skill during her recent sick visit, to which the doctor responded that "praying is a good thing to do when you're sick"!
Emily Jayne continues to light up our lives. We're looking forward to experiencing the joy of Christmas through her toddler eyes this year.

So cute! I love that smocked dress!
How funny I didn't know she folded her hands for the doc! She is soooo much fun! Love my niece-y poo :)
She's getting so big! Hope she's feeling better. Good for her for making it to 18 months without an illness!
