Traveling with an 11 month old who is very busy and active is no easy task, but with lots of preparation and organization - and a bit of Benadryl - we did beautifully. On a side note, it was amazing and humbling to have so many 'strangers' at the airport ask if they could help when they noticed I was flying solo (excuse the pun). It was such a relief when I had my hands full.
We arrived and had a wonderful time together. It was like the good 'ole days when Kimmie Sue, Sir Jean, and Hil Ann just sat around and talked....however this time the conversation was mostly around motherhood! How fun it was to be together with all of us being mothers! Kim's daughter, Nora, was the most recent baby born, and it was wonderful meeting her for the first time.
The final night we were there, Sarah's family came down from Green Bay, and we all dined and played together. Our little group of three girls sure had grown!
The trip home brought a small bump in the road as we discoverd upon our arrival to Chicago O'Hare airport that due to bad weather in Dallas/Ft. Worth (surprise, surprise), we were delayed. Fortunately the delay was just an hour....but when you arrive to the airport around two hours prior to departure, an hour seems like a loooooong time...especially with a baby. So I did my best to keep her entertained, and we eventually made it home safe and sound.
I treasure these times with close friends as our friendships have spanned almost twelve years. It's so special sharing our lives - and now our families and children together! We are indeed blessed.
