15 months

Our little Emily Jayne is 15 months old! It's hard to believe. The saying 'they grow like weeds' is so true. Here are her latest stats from last week's well-check:

Weight: 25 lbs 14 oz (75%)
Height: 33.5 inches (<100%)

Don't ask me how Bryan and I have a child that is off the charts on height, but she is! Apparently in the last 3 months, she's grown 3 inches!! Wowee!

Besides height, Emily has been busy growing in other areas since her 1st birthday. In one month she cut 6 teeth. That's right - 6!! Her teeth come in spurts, and when they come, they make their presence known. 4 of them are her 1st molars, which has been quite a wild ride.

Starting around 14 months, the surge of independence began to shine in a big way, which has been a joy to watch as we learn more and more of her personality and her likes/dislikes. But of course, it has also brought about the wonderful world of 'time-outs.' We're glad that Emily is a quick learner and now understands what time-outs are and why mommy and daddy use them. Afer this realization, life has become much better! (shameless plug for the book, "The Happiest Toddler on the Block")

At 15 months, Emily is officially down to 1 nap a day, which proved to be a challenging transition but a rewarding milestone. It's great having all morning with her before nap time (especially with more cool weather coming!).

Our little girl is so interactive and animated these days - she loves to watch what mommy's doing in the kitchen, walks around playing 'dress up' with a blanket over her head and carrying a purse, is still engrossed in her books and finds it fun pointing out all of the 'balls' and 'babies' she can find, puts on different hats of hers throughout the day (see picture above), climbs on everything, and gets a kick out of being chased around the house.

This is such a fun age, and our house has taken on a whole new level of exploration, learning, and fun with a 15-month-old busy toddler. We're so thankful for such a healthy and happy daughter who brings us so much joy!

What a cutie! I can't believe she is already 15 months old! Isn't it fun when you enter the disciplining stage? :)
